Press V for the select tool. Click picks one thing, drag on empty space boxes several, drag the thing itself moves it, the arrow keys nudge it 10 mm at a time, and Delete or Backspace removes what is selected. Esc deselects.

Switching to another tool clears the selection, and so does switching floors.

Moving

Drag it. Walls are the interesting case: dragging a wall carries the ends that are joined to it, so a room stays closed, and while you drag, the clear space left on either side is drawn live — moving a wall is a decision about both rooms, not just one. To detach an end instead, drag its endpoint handle.

Nudge it. Arrow keys move the selection 10 mm; hold Shift for 100 mm.

Rotate it. R turns the selection 90° about the centre of the group; Shift+R turns it the other way.

Move it an exact distance. Select, press E, click a base point (it snaps to corners and endpoints), then either click the destination or type the distance, Tab, the angle, Enter.

The hint line at the bottom of the window always states what the current selection can do — it changes with what you have picked.

Copying

KeysWhat happens
⌘C / Ctrl+CCopy the selection
⌘V / Ctrl+VPaste it
⌘D / Ctrl+DDuplicate in place
-drag (Alt-drag)Duplicate and drag the copy away in one gesture

The clipboard is shared between open plan tabs, so you can copy a bathroom out of one plan and paste it into another.

Deleting

Delete or Backspace removes everything selected. Deleting a wall also deletes the doors and windows in it — they belong to the wall. Every delete is one undo step: ⌘Z brings it back.

Reshaping rather than moving

Some things have handles when selected, and the hint line names them:

  • A wall — endpoint handles at each end. Drag one to move just that end and detach it from whatever it was joined to.
  • An area or room — a handle on every corner, a on each edge to add a corner, and -click (Alt-click) on a corner to remove it. Drag the body to move the whole shape.
  • A door or window — drag it along its host wall.

What this doesn’t do

  • There is no selection of things on other floors. Selection is per storey. A 3D click on another storey’s wall switches the active floor to that storey first, so what you selected is what the keyboard will act on.
  • Hidden layers are not selectable. If a layer’s visibility is off, its objects cannot be clicked, boxed or deleted — turning a layer off also prunes anything of its from the current selection, so a Delete cannot reach something you cannot see.
  • Deleting a floor is a different gesture — the × on its row in the floors menu, not the Delete key.
