Open plans are tabs in the strip across the top. Each one is a separate project with its own undo history and its own cloud link, and you can select objects in one and paste them into another. The strip is always there, even with a single plan open.
Tabs are free.
Copying between plans
Select in one tab, copy, switch tab, paste. It is the quickest way to reuse a bathroom you have already drawn, or to lift a wing out of one scheme into another.
Closing one
Clicking the × asks before it closes, because the two cases are genuinely different:
- A plan synced to a cloud project stays in the cloud — you can reopen it from Open….
- A local plan is kept in this browser only, and closing it discards it.
If what you are really doing is comparing an existing layout against a new one, tabs are not the best tool for it — see below.
Comparing two versions
Parking the original in one tab and the new layout in another works, but two tabs are two separate projects: nothing ties them together, and a stray click on the × is the only thing between you and losing one.
Design options is built for exactly this. Several schemes live inside one project, with a switcher in the top bar and a Compare view that puts two on one screen, and each option keeps its own version history.
What this doesn’t do
- No tab reordering or pinning.
- Tabs are per browser. The strip does not follow you to another machine — your projects do, if they are synced.
- No cross-tab undo. Undo works inside the tab you are in.
