How to make an AI presentation image of your design

Pro · overhead render free Updated 2026-10-15

In the 3D view, click Render in the view controls at the top right, or choose Export → AI render… from any view. Pick the view, a Mode and a Light, then Generate image. Gridsnap’s AI makes a realistic presentation image of that view, usually in a minute or two, and shows it beside the view it came from. Your plan stays unchanged. It is a Pro feature; AI floor plan rendering shows examples and who uses it.

Every image is AI-generated, so details may differ from your design. It is a picture for presenting an idea, not a drawing: it is not to scale and nothing in it is measured.

Make an image

  1. Open the composer: Render in the 3D view, or Export → AI render… from the plan, an elevation or a section.
  2. Choose the source: Current 3D view, one of your saved views, or Overhead · <storey>, the storey seen straight down with the rooms open. Opened from the plan, the composer starts with the overhead view.
  3. Choose a Mode and a Light, and for Explore style a Palette.
  4. Click Generate image.

The source is captured in the Realistic style, with your finishes. A cutaway, a hidden roof and Up to <storey> stay as you framed them. If you change the design or move the camera afterwards, Capture the view again picks up the change.

Generation continues if you close the window. The image appears in Images when it is ready.

Mode

ModeWhat it does
As designedRealistic light and materials. Furniture, finishes and layout are asked to stay as you designed them.
Lived-inAs designed, plus a few small everyday objects such as a bowl, mugs, a book or a throw. No furniture is added or replaced.
Explore styleTry a palette of colours and finishes in the image. Furniture shapes and the layout are asked to stay, and nothing is applied to your plan.

“Asked to stay” is exact: the AI is instructed to keep your design, and usually does, but it can change a colour or a detail. In one of our own tests a green sofa came out charcoal.

Light

LightWhat it does
DaylightNeutral daylight: soft, balanced daylight.
WarmWarm and inviting: warmer, softer light. Finishes keep their colours.
EveningSoft evening: evening ambience from the light fittings you modelled. No lamps or windows are added.

These are moods for the picture, not a lighting or sun study.

Palette (Explore style)

PaletteColours and finishes
Warm naturalOak and walnut tones, linen, terracotta and warm off-whites.
ScandinavianPale ash, soft whites, light greys and muted blue-green accents.
ContemporaryCharcoal, warm greys, smoked timber and brushed metal.

A palette changes the image only. To try a finish on the design itself, change it in Finishes.

Images

Images keeps every image you made, for This project or All my images. Open one to see it full size, and use:

  • Source and Result to switch between the view you captured and the AI image, and Compare to lay them on top of each other with a handle you drag across.
  • ← and → to step to the previous or next image.
  • Download to save the image.
  • Generate another to make a new image from the same view and settings.
  • Delete to remove it.

How many images you get

PlanAI images
FreeNone. Generating an image needs Pro. The overhead render stays free.
Pro Monthly and Pro Annual50 a month. Unused images do not roll over.
90-day Pro access150 in total for the 90 days, used whenever you like.
Extra images50 more for $9 once, with Pro. They never expire and are used after your monthly images.

Every image you generate counts, including ones you decide not to keep. An image that fails is not counted. When you run out, the composer says so before you click, shows when your images renew, and offers the extra images. If you leave Pro, you can still view, compare and download the images you made. Prices and plans are on the pricing page.

What this doesn’t do

  • It never edits your design. Nothing in an image, including an Explore style palette, is applied to the plan.
  • It is not exact. The image is AI-generated and may differ from your design in colour, detail or objects. It has no scale and cannot be measured.
  • It starts from your Gridsnap views only. You cannot upload a photo of a room or an image of a plan, and there is no free-text prompt.
  • No furniture is redesigned or swapped, and no lamps or windows are added.
  • No 360° panoramas or video.
