Switch to the elevations view and all four are there — North elevation, South elevation, East elevation, West elevation — generated from the plan you drew. There is nothing to draw and nothing to keep in step: change a wall height or a window sill and every elevation that shows it is redrawn.
Elevations are free.
What is drawn
Walls, roofs, terraces and the ground line come from the model, with nearer things covering what is behind them. On top of that, each door and window punches its own void in the wall and then draws its real joinery into it: the frame, the leaf, the glazing, the cill. The joinery covers its own wall’s void but still hides behind anything nearer, so a window on the far wall is correctly obscured by the near one.
A cased opening — a doorway with no door in it — stays a void on purpose, because there is nothing there to draw.
Chimneys and columns are drawn as massing. Furnishing is not drawn in elevations, with one exception: scale figures, which are there to give the drawing a human size.
Working in the pane
Each pane pans and zooms on its own. The button in the corner fits the elevation back into its pane, and Esc steps back out of whatever you are doing. You can select a wall by clicking it in an elevation, and edit it in the panel.
Dimensioning heights
Press M and click two points to add a dimension on an elevation — the heights that a plan cannot show: ground level, floor levels, wall heads, the ridge, sills and heads.
There is also an auto-measure button on each pane (Pro). It dimensions the heights on that elevation in one go: ground, every floor level, every wall head and the ridge in one chain, plus sill and head beside every window and door. Re-measure any time — it replaces its own numbers rather than stacking a second set on top.
What this doesn’t do
- Four directions only. There are no oblique or auxiliary elevations, and no sections.
- No hatching or material rendering. Elevations are line drawings with mass; a rendered image comes from the 3D view.
- The plot window does not apply. Elevations always show the whole building, even when a plot window is cropping the plan.
